We headed down to Nashville for Thanksgiving this year. 14 hour car trip with three kids. FUN. Actually I have to say we have it easy. We no longer have a DVD player, but the kids each have a DS and we listened to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on CD. They are really good in the car. They almost never ask to stop because they have been doing these long trips long enough to know we get there faster the fewer times we stop. Also, they get along well in the van. As long as the boys are far apart. Also when traveling with three kids it helps to have OMa provide the hotel. We stayed in a beautiful hotel suite with a separate bedroom for us. Bonus!
We were able to visit with lots of family. We spent the first part of the week with the Lincolns. The kids were able to be with Grandmommy and GaGa (Chad's maternal grandparents) and Uncle Alan and Aunt Cathy and their girls Valerie, Allison and Katie. We also were able to attend church as a big family unit which was great.
We spent the later half of the week with the Wilson side of the family. We visited with Granny (Chad's paternal grandmother) Aunt Lydia and Aunt Lori. We really enjoyed our time at their new place. We had beautiful weather while we were there and the kids loved playing in their cul-de-sac.
Of course we had great family time with OMa and OPa and Aunt Steph, Uncle Jon, Jackson and baby Grayson too. We visited the Ice show which is made completely of ice. And VERY cold!
And rounded out the week standing in lines all night getting great deals on Black Friday.
I started our drive home in the dark of morning before the sunrise. I drove the last leg of the trip in the dark after sunset. Chad drove the middle portions. As Gabi (for some unknown reason, what else does she tell them?) told Evan's teacher "mommy is the night driver and daddy is the day driver".
