New York Trip part 1

We made it up to New York a couple of weeks ago. It had been awhile and it was great to spend time with everyone. We had a pretty uneventful trip up on Friday night. On Saturday morning we woke up to Opa's famous star pancakes. We had a nice family breakfast and then headed out to LL Bean where Opa works part time. We shopped for awhile. The store was really neat. Oma and Opa treated the kids to back to school supplies. Andy got a new back pack and lunch box with his name on them. The big kids got water bottles and flashlights for their backpacks.

Next we met up with Aunt Steph, Uncle Jon and Jackson at the Sauerkraut festival. This was a big carnival with plenty of food and rides. Among the healthy treats we tried as a family were curly fries, nachos, fried oreos, fried mushrooms, fried bologna, fried pickles, fried dough and funnel cake. As you can see it was a very nutritious place to be. We forgot to eat the sauerkraut though, and we left before they cut the sauerkraut cake.

Next Oma and Opa treated the kids to some rides.

The little guys trying out the baby scrambler. It actually went pretty fast and they loved every second.
It was a definite bonding experience!
Uncle Jon took them on the spinning strawberries. They were spinning so fast we couldn't get a picture while the ride was going.
Evan and Gabi rode the planes way up in the air SOOOO fast. This was the after picture. It went up so high I couldn't get their picture during the ride.
After the carnival we went back to Aunt Steph's and Uncle Jon's for a cook out. We had a great time visiting with everyone. The kids really enjoyed playing with their cousin. After dark Uncle Jon built the worlds biggest bonfire. Jackson just wanted the crackers!
The kids were excited to roast marshmallows!
Andy said it was too hot!
