Hershey park

Wow this post is late. During the last week of summer we decided to surprise the kids with a trip to Hershey Park. They had been begging to go to six flags again ever since we went last summer. We had never tried Hershey and had heard good things so we went there. We left early in the morning without telling them where they were going. Gabi I think had an idea based on what we packed. As we were pulling through town they started getting a clue. I don't think it was until we were actually walking through the gates and into the park that they really realized we were at an amusement park. Hershey does a neat thing where they assign candy names to different height ranges. The kids were really measuring themselves up to see which candy they would be and therefore which rides they could ride. Evan was right on the edge of the 54 inches and the ability to ride the biggest coasters, but Gabi still needed a good inch or two so we didn't push it and just assigned them both to the smaller size. Andy measured right at 42 inches. They wanted him to be over 42 to qualify for the next step up. But said it was ultimately up to the workers at the individual rides and they all let him get on the reese cup rides.

We purposefully went on Thursday instead of Friday thinking it would be a lot less crowded, but apparently everyone had that idea. Then we made the mistake of starting with the rides right near the entrance along with everyone else. The lines were REALLY long. Gabi and Evan and I waited over an hour to ride a roller coaster. But by the time we made it to the back of the park and everyone had had enough time to spread out the lines were moving very quickly. We had beautiful weather. It was sunny and 84. Unfortunately it had been very cold the few days before we went so there was still a cool breeze and the water was freezing in the water park. I think next year we could spend a whole day just in the water park. It was great! But too cold.

The other lesson we learned was not to pre pay for our food. We ordered discounted food tickets online thinking we would save money and not have to worry about cash at the park. We bought each person a packet that included two combo meals and a snack. Well we got there and kept riding until a late lunch about 1:45. Then we went to the water park and stayed until after 5. Then we started hopping on coasters and the lines we so short we wanted to hit as many as possible. We remembered that there were some restaurants we were interested in close to the entrance so we just kept riding all the way back up to the front. The big kids and Chad even rode a coaster with a loop. But by the time we got back to the front it was 9:00 and all the food places closed. We were left with 4 combo meal tickets we couldn't use. Only Evan got food because along the way back was the only place that had burgers and that is what he wanted. So we used our snack coupons to get ice cream and just left. The only good part of that was Chad knew a co worker who was going the next week so he gave him the tickets and they at least didn't go to waste.

We had a great time. I think if we go back Chad and I could relax a little more because we know which rides we want to try and where they are and finding things wouldn't be so stressful.

Daddy was not enjoying this ride. Too squished.

This a neat ride. Kind of like tea cups but rising up in the air.

The ferris wheel

Andy and I on the whip. He loved all the fast rides. Was not scared at all.

But he would lean over in the middle of the ride smiling and say..."Should we scream now" and then scream this crazy girly scream!
After the water park.

Waiting in line for the first coaster.

Ready to Go!
We made it!
Waiting for the next coaster to start. This one was called Thunder and Lightning. It has two carts that run simultaneously and the first one back wins. This was Gabi's favorite ride.
We went hard the whole time the park was open. IN at 10:00 and OUT at 10:00. The kids were totally wiped out. I took these about ten minutes into the car ride home.
