The day we've been waiting for since he was born weighing in at almost 10 lbs. Evan's first football game was this morning. As size is his biggest asset, not speed, flag football will not be his best sport. Unfortunately we have three years of it before he is old enough for tackle. So we have to start somewhere. For his first time out on the field I thought he did great. He tried hard and was involved in several plays. He got to snap the ball a few times. He ran once. He almost grabbed a flag two times. He was sad the way a four year old is when things don't go as planned. He was sure he would grab the flag every time. he was sure he would run for a touchdown on his first (and only) try. But his flag was grabbed after about 5 steps. So he cried. But he took a deep breath and got back out there and played hard again. He seems to really enjoy this sport. You will notice in the pictures that he always has a big grin on his face. Try it, its hard to run fast when you are smiling. Soon enough he will learn he has to get serious and run fast if he wants to catch a flag.
**side note: Gabi's soccer game was postponed. Pictures to come when she starts.
