Bowling! The mother of one of Gabi's classmates noticed that the bowling alley was having a special on President's Day. The kids could get two games of bowling, a hot dog and a soda for $7. So Gabi, Evan and I went with four other neighbor families. The kids had a great time. We have never taken them bowling. They have been to a couple birthday parties I think.

Gabi's lane consisted of one other girl her age and then two younger siblings of her friends. Gabi won the first game with a score of 98. I think she had one strike. The second game the younger kids were done and the big kids took turns bowling for them. Gabi ended up second behind the girl she bowled for with scores of 87 and 86. In total between bowling for herself and April she had five spares. She was very into it and taking the game very seriously. This is after a spare.

Evan was bowling against 3 other first graders. Two of whom bowl in a league every week. He was not taking it seriously. He kept asking when he could go play the video games. He did have fun when he took his turn though. He had an interesting release. It was more of a combination basketball bounce pass/ baseball pitch than a bowling motion. The first game he did well and ended up second. The next game (the one where he asked me in between each turn if he could have pizza or play video games) he had two strikes and two spares and scored 110 points and won. That he got excited about!

We had a great time. We will have to go back.

Our bowling alley has a game lounge...meaning a pool table, video games, Wiis, Play Stations and Xboxs. So it turns out not to be fun because Chris is constantly bargaining. Every turn he will say something like "If I bowl the rest of this game without complaining can I go into the lounge." Last time we went he actually put his head down on the table and said he was to tired to bowl because I wouldn't let him play Mario Party 8 on the Wii (which we have at home)! Ryan on the other hand used the ramp for disabled people and screamed "bowwwwing ayea" every time he pushed the ball down the lane.
Really, why do they need video games at the bowling alley anyway? Don't people go there to bowl?
