Snow

In a big way. For the first time in a long time we will have a white Christmas. We got about 8-10 inches of snow last Saturday. It was a great snow. The pretty powdery kind. So powdery in fact that we tried twice during the storm to get ahead of the shoveling and both times a couple hours later you could not tell we had even tried to shovel. The wind would blow the snow right back onto the shoveled surface. On Sunday church was cancelled so Chad and I headed out to shovel for the third time. Living on a public corner we have to shovel sidewalk the length of two sides of the house. We also had to dig out two cars (no garage) and shovel a steep hilly gravel driveway that the plows had piled snow three feet deep at the end of. Add to that the fact that on two sides of us elderly women were outside trying to shovel by themselves. So we each shoveled out one of the neighbors. Even with a great team effort we were shoveling for well over two hours.

The big kids had a blast. They are finally old enough to wear real gloves and keep them on. They never complained of being cold and stayed out for hours until I told them they had to come in and warm up. They went sledding down the driveway and the front hills. They built snow forts and had snowball fights.

Andy does not like to wear a coat. Or a hat. Or mittens. Or boots. So Sat while it was snowing he stayed inside. Sunday when we were all out and shoveling he had to come out with us. This is what happened when I put the snow clothes on him.

But he did have fun after he got out there. For a little while. Eventually he went back in and I turned on a movie for him and went back to shoveling.
