Another season come and gone

Gabi finished up a great basketball season. She learned a lot and had a great time. She was not able to score in a game. She was afraid someone would block her shot so she just chucked it up as fast as she could. But she played with heart and dribbled hard to the basket several times. My favorite part of the season came on a move away from the ball. One team they were playing had a tall experienced player who kept blocking all their shots. At one point in the game during a rebound Gabi ended up between this girl and the basket. Gabi's teammate got the rebound, put it back up and scored. Chad took Gabi aside and told her "Great job. By being between the tall girl and your teammate you allowed her to rebound and score. It's called blocking out." So Gabi made that her mission the rest of the game. And she got mean and nasty about it. She got low and bodied her out. She stood her ground between her and the ball. And, Oh Yeah, she held the girl's arms down. We had to call her off after awhile. But it was so great to see her aggressive for the first time in her life.
