Vacation Part One- Myrtle Beach

As soon as school was out we headed south. We arrived in North Carolina on Tuesday night and hung out with Nanni and Pops. We saw this giant painted turtle walking along the side of the road. That Saturday Pops fired up the engines on the RV and we left for Myrtle Beach.
{Unfortunately this was the day that the US was playing Ghana in the World Cup. I was driving in the van behind the RV so I couldn't watch the game. I was listening through my phone like a crazy fan as we drove. It was half time when we arrived at the campground. I ran into the RV while Pops registered us and saw the USA score the penalty kick to tie the game. We all went nuts. Then Pops had to drive the RV to our campsite. I hurried back into the RV just as Pops cut the engines and started up the campsite electricity. The satellite moved and lost reception.
We had to listen to Overtime on our phones. It was torture! I am sure if we had been watching they would not have lost :0) }

Then it was time for the beach. The first night we ate dinner and then just drove by the beach to check it out and dip their feet in.

After that it was three fun filled days of hitting the beach all day. Followed by a splash in the campground pool and showers at the club house. Then out to dinner. Ending with very tired kids crashing into their beds back at the RV.

Great thing about vacations is the boys are nice to each other.

Pops and Nanni's hang out. Each day they bought us water ice from the cart that was pushed along the beach. It was soooooo refreshing after playing in the sun all day.

When the tide went out in the afternoons it left behind a pond to play in. The water was hot. The water was shallow. Andy spent most of his time here. Gabi called it her beach hot tub!

Of course we dug a hole and built a sandcastle!
Pops got in the water this year. The kids had a blast boogie boarding with him.
Unfortunately he had a tick bite on his ankle that gave him Lyme's Disease. The bite did not react well to the salt water so he had to stay out the next day. But we still did lots of boarding and diving through waves.

This poor boy did not make it back to the RV for bed. One day he slept at the beach. Another he fell asleep in the restaurant.

Indoor smores for dessert!

Andy had to share his with his "best friend Pops"
The pond at the campground had two swans swimming in it. This kids thought it was pretty neat.

The beach fun had to end so we could head back to Nanni and Pops house for a family reunion. More on that next.
