Adoption

We are adopting!!!! We have talked about adopting for years. I have stalked blogs about adopting. We have researched and prayed and tried to figure out how in the world to pay for such a thing. We have tried to look into the future and find "the right time". We always knew that somewhere out there was a child for us.

So now we are so excited to announce:
We are adopting a baby sister! Our family needs another sister to go around. The boys have a very hard time sharing the one we have! And Gabi girl is over the moon at the thought of having her very own sister. I love my sister more than words can say and I can't imagine sending my daughter off into the world without a sister to depend on! Gabi has already named our new sister "Hope". She is convinced this in the perfect name because it has four letters just like everyone else in our family. While this is most likely not the name our new daughter will use, for now while we are waiting and hoping, we will refer to our baby sister as Hope.

At this point we have been accepted in the Ethiopia Adoption Program with America World Adoption Agency. We have requested a girl from 0 to 2 years old. This is a very long process and we are in the beginning stages. After being accepted in the program we laid out our financial plan and then signed the official agreeement and sent in the first installment of our program fee. The next step which should happen any minute now is we will be assigned a case worker and social worker. These nice people will help us through the paper work stage of the adoption. We can hopefully get this finished up and get on the wait list by the end of May. At that point the wait should be 7-11 months.

Our prayer is that Hope will be home by next summer. Many people have asked Why Ethiopia. There are many contributing factors. Each country has many different requirements that the adoptive family has to meet. Time and again as we researched we felt led to Ethiopia. How could we not after falling in love with these beautiful faces?

Wow, Kati! This is so awesome! We will cover you all in prayer! So excited for you. Having spent time in Kenya and seeing some of the faces in need, I can see why you are feeling lead to the children of Africa. You and Chad are amazing parents and Hope will be so blessed to become part of your family!!! - Stacey H.
