Basketball 2011

Basketball season is well under way around here. You can find us at the courts for three hours every Saturday. I think basketball is our kids' most successful sport. Neither of them are the all star on their team, but they both play hard and seem to get the idea. Evan just started games. It is typical first year basketball. The whole defense converges on the kid who has the ball and so its rare for a good shot or pass to take place. Here is Evan about to be surrounded. He takes the shot... close, but misses.

Good defensive form. The boys are supposed to be playing zone defense and Coach Chad is a rule follower so his kids stay in they appropriate lanes. I wish the other teams would follow the rules.

Gabi girl is doing well. She scored her first basket in a game this week. It was a nice put back on a rebound. She is very successful in practice, but usually rushes her shot in games. She has a good grasp on the plays I have installed and gets to play point guard sometimes. She is a little dribble happy though!
