So after Oma and Opa arrived on Friday night, we ate some yummy homemade soup and walked down the street to the fire house. It was the open house night during fire prevention month. All the fire trucks were there. They also had one of those mobile homes that they walk the kids through and show fire hazards. Then in the last room they filled it with smoke and the kids had to climb out the window.
Saturday with no football game to plan for we just went with the flow. The computer in the microwave has been misbehaving and had gotten to the point that we needed to replace it. Being an over the range microwave, Chad decided to take advantage of his father being here. So the big boys shopped for and installed, and took back the one that didn't work, and then shopped for and installed again our new microwave.
Oma and I hit the local outlet mall for a little while during all of the boys adventures. I had some coupons for Children's Place (love that store) that I wanted to use. I filled my quota of bargain shopping (7 shirts, 2 pants, 2 tights, hat, belt, hair band for $39) and we came home. We all snoozed and watched the UT football game on TV during the late afternoon.
Then Oma and Opa (and Aunt Steph, Uncle Jon, and Jackson) treated the boys to a birthday trip to the Lego Store. This is heaven on earth for my two boys. They love Legos! And this place is covered in them. There are box sets, make and take sets, just play and build places. Its great. So after much decision making each boy came home with some great Legos. They were very upset that we couldn't put them together that night when we got home, but it was already 9:00. So Sunday while I was at soccer, Daddy sat at the table and helped them assemble everything for 3 hours! Evan was able to do all of his vehicles and people by himself. Daddy just helped with the big space station. Andy obviously needed help with all of his, but Chad said he was very cute with trying to help! Both boys are very proud of their creations. Thanks Wilsons and Potters!
Sunday morning we went to church. Then we braved the grand opening of the new Wegmans a couple miles from my house. There were 1500 people lined up when it opened at 7 am. And they weren't giving anything away (except for a reusable shopping bag). When we went it was much more crowded than that. The place is enormous and I was overwhelmed with the crowds. It took one hour to walk the store, buy Gabi's team some popcorn, and buy subs for us for lunch. Hopefully the crowds will dwindle enough that it is possible to actually shop there soon.
After the shopping we went to Gabi's football/cheer game. Then I left to play soccer and Oma and Opa returned to NY.
It was a great fall weekend!
