This was a light travel day for us. We had to be checked out of Hart Ranch by 11:00. We were up and going early and seemingly going to be out in plenty time. I took the kids up to the playground in the car so Pops could pull the RV in front and hook the car up to tow. He was doing that while the kids were playing on the playground. The grandfather of one of the kids we were playing with went to chat with Pops and that was the end of us getting out on time. Once on the road we said goodbye to South Dakota and Mt Rushmore.
We were headed to Gillette Wyoming to attend a Fleetwood Motorhome Rally. There are over 400 motorhomes here. They have seminars and discount repairs and socials. There is not much here for the kids. It is kind of like a big fair grounds. The RV's (or motorhomes or coaches as they call them) are all parked in a big empty field with hook ups every few feet.
Once we arrived, Pops went to check out the rally, and Nan and I took the kids to find a park. We found a great city park. It has a really nice playground and a nice pool. After we found it we came back to the rally for the hor deurve hour. There was not much there for the kids to eat, although Evan did eat his first chicken wings. So afterwards I drove Pops and the kids to the playground and came back for Nanni. We decided to be brave and try Taco Johns. They are on every corner out here like McDonalds. So we picked up food for everyone and went to the park. We had a nice but chilly picnic in the park. We then retuned to the RV for showers and bedtime.
Interesting note about the weather. When we left Rapid City SD they high for the day was to be in the 90's and it was already quite warm. As we were driving up into higher elevations (we went up 5000 ft) the temperature was falling. At one point it got down to 49 degrees. In Gillette when we arrived the high for the day had been 71 and it was quickly falling. By the time we had our picnic it must have been in the high 50's.
No pictures today. Missed the border sign and forgot the camera for the picnic.
